Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, many players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced using custom matches created through the Portal feature to complete them, emphasizing just how grueling these missions have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four categories of assignments, but while the majority simply offer outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of acquiring twelve from the forty-one primary weapons available in the game.

Several of these locked weapons may soon earn a place on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

Another Reddit user highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with sniper rifles

This is tough enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for completing them in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, some players simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

Currently, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous in-game tasks, anticipating a fairer overall gameplay in coming revisions.
