New England Equal Best Victory Run From Brady Era with Win Over Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player Henderson has tallied five touchdowns this season

New England matched their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the Jets by 13 points in professional football

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eighth straight win for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season

Quarterback Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The win extends the New England's advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after falling to two victories and eight defeats

The Jets had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields running in a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' opening drive

But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third period to make it 21-7

"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be excellent."

Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the victory
