Donald Trump has called off arrangements for a deployment of national agents to the San Francisco Bay Area that had triggered widespread condemnation from local authorities and brought protesters gathering in the streets.
The locale had been on edge after information emerged that the administration was ready to send approximately 150 border control and other federal agents to the military facility in the East Bay, as part of a large-scale border control plan.
However, the president declared he would not proceed with a “increase” of national agents in the region after conversing with the mayor, city leadership, and tech industry figures including tech executive and technology leader.
“In that conversation, the national leader assured me explicitly that he was canceling every proposal for a federal deployment in the city,” city leadership stated in a announcement.
